What to Expect
Therapy is a brave step. Let’s make it feel a little less uncertain.
Whether this is your first time in counseling or you’re returning after a break, I want you to know—you’re welcome here. This is a space where you can exhale, show up just as you are, and begin the work of healing with support and grace.
Your First Appointment
At your first session, you’ll be welcomed into a calm, comfortable space where you can simply breathe and settle in. You’re welcome to sit wherever feels most at ease for you. We’ll start with a gentle conversation to get to know each other, review your intake paperwork (if not already submitted online), and talk about what brought you here. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for—this is your time, and we’ll move at your pace. By the end of the session, we’ll talk through your goals and whether this feels like the right fit for your journey forward.
Privacy and Confidentiality
I intentionally schedule a 15-minute buffer between each client session. This allows time for you to enter and exit your appointment without crossing paths with another client—and gives me time to be fully present for you. Your privacy matters, and so does your peace.
Everything you share in our sessions is held in confidence, with the exception of mandated reporting guidelines (which I’ll review with you clearly during our first meeting).
What Sessions Are Like
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long. Some clients arrive with specific things they want to process, others need help finding the words. Either is welcome. You don’t have to have it all figured out to get started.
Our work together might include conversation, silence, guided tools (like EMDR or grounding exercises), creative processing (like painting or sculpture), Scripture or prayer (if that’s something you desire), and plenty of compassion.
Come As You Are
You don’t need to dress a certain way, act a certain way, or say the “right” thing. You are not too much, too sensitive, too stuck, or too broken. This is your space. I’m here to walk alongside you as you make sense of what’s going on and move toward healing at your own pace.
